- Lubonk is a very interesting take on Lunga how did that become your name is it a real story ??
- As a young DJ it’s easy to kind of adapt your sound to current trends and blend hip hop into it ….why have you stayed true to the house sound ??
- All I see these days in the city are lineups with lubonk’s name …How did you really get into working as a DJ ???
- What three tracks have played large roles in your sets ?? And what makes them work particularly well on the dance floor?
- Can you give us a sort of indication what is inline for lubonk in the next 6 months /next year ?
- From what I know house music is the most respected genre of music coming out of South Africa …do you see a change in that considering the rate at which hip hop is growing in the country ??
- From listening to some of your mixes on SoundCloud and mixcloud I’ve noticed that you touch base with every form of house music from tribal to electro to deep house …why is that important for you is it a particular trademark ? Or do you not want to be boxed in ??

- The name Lubonk came about through the use of both my names, which is Lunga and Bongani, which was also my second alias, I used to call myself Noxious Soul which didn’t work out because there was someone already using the alias.
- There are a couple of sub-genres I can fuse into my house sound and it also depends on what kind of BPM (beats per minute) the songs are play at, weather it may be hip hop or house or any other genre. I’ve also stayed true to the genre because not a lot of people are into the sound I play particularly young DJs, everyone is mainly into like Gqom or hip-hop.
- I wouldn’t know about every line up, but what I can say is, I try to remain constant especially in braam, as the scene is still relevant, although making it as a career isn’t easy and for most people they think becoming a DJ is easy.
- Cornelius SA feat Jackie Queens – Feel It Now (Kusasa Remix) • Black Coffee, Toshi – Buya (Da Capo’s Dub Tech Remix)
- Rosario – State of Mind These songs work because these at dance floor bangers, when I drop any of these songs, it’s guaranteed to be a jump.
- I have a couple of projects I’m currently working on, can’t really say much about it, but it’s an exciting project which I hope could bring unity within the culture and amongst the music industry.
- The house music scene is still very big, throughout the world especially with the likes of Black Coffee and Culoe De Song who have residency in foreign countries, but the one thing that kills the music industry as a whole is the rate of piracy, people don’t buy music and that’s what kills a lot of artist.
- Yes, I like putting different sounds from different subgenres, just showcasing how much music people are sleeping on, and I’ve been shopping on bandcamp, which offers a variety of dope conceptual sounds.
