Derrick Oliver (born on the 17th of April 2001), better known by his stage name Darse Mayne, is a Nigerian recording Hip Hop/Afro-fusion Artist, Producer, Songwriter born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Darse is originally a rapper but due to his versatile art and raw talent, he has tapped into different genres such as Afrobeat, Rnb, and Dance hall.
In May 2018 he dropped his single titled “Whole Life” followed by a music video that got so much support from his listeners and the single earned him an interview on Vow FM and TransAfricaRadio. He also shot a documentary with the SABC Studios which had covered behind the scenes on his Musical journey which aired on SABC 3. Darse Mayne dropped his first-ever new EP on the 25th of August 2018 titled “Vacation” with 7 tracks that were self-produced.
In 2019 Darse Mayne featured several times in the Daily Sun Newspaper, he got playlisted On several foreign online radio stations got playlisted on Metro FM, and scored him an interview on Rashid Kay and Oskido’s hip-hop Show on Metro FM. He also worked with a few industry names like Gino Brown, Golden beats, and many more. The youngster has received various Celebrity recognition running his ideal branded #Darsefreestyles Episodes on twitter from the likes of Sjava, Rouge, Dj Dimplez and many more.
This year 2020 the artist is working on his Mixtape that is titled SWTCH for now he says this tape is set to feature few industry names and amazing craft from the young king. The support he gets from his listeners is so inspirational enough to keep him going. Darse feels that it’s in his hands to get African music recognized beyond that which is already set by our current reigning artists.
