Lamiez Holworthy is a cross cultured multi lingual young lady who was bred and born in Pretoria. With an Indian/Colored mother and Black father, she is the epitome of diverse and best represents our South African rainbow nation.
Lamiez is a TV presenter on Live amp which is the biggest music show in South Africa and airs on Sabc 1 every Friday. The show bagged a 2020 SAFTA nominee in the best entertainment program category. She started her the career in high school by guest presenting on a show called KMTV on Soweto TV and then on a show called LTD which aired weekly on Tshwane Tv.
Lamiez is a businesswoman and a philanthropist who runs the Lamiez Holworthy Foundation. The Foundation provides aid for o orphanages and safe houses for orphaned,abused,abandoned, HIV infected and affected children. The foundation also focuses on finding learners from disadvantaged and impoverished backgrounds with study material,financial aid and sponsors deserving matriculants with their matric farewells. The Lamiez Holworthy Foundation has started an initiative called “Bikers 4 change” which plays an intricate role in her charity work.
Lamiez has Mc’d and presented awards at some of South Africa’s biggest award ceremonies and festivals. She has also been a brand ambassador and influencer for both local and global brands. Lamiez is now working on her own clothing line and will be releasing a shoe collection with Italian brand Superga.
2020 marks a decade since Lamiez started her deejaying career and we’ve seen her take not just Africa but the world by storm. She’s been voted as one of the Top 100 female Dj’s in the world for 4 years now and the #2 best female DJ in Africa for 2019. Not only does she frequent the club and events scene in Africa,we’ve also seen her broaden her following outside the African boarders with her last international gig being in Australia. Lamiez does weekly mixes on Metro FM titled “Tattooed Tuesday’s” which has gained a lot of traction with millions of loyal listeners.
A favourite on the clubbing scene, “House Music” has always been associated with male Deejays but that did not stop Lamiez Holworthy from pursuing her dream of playing a major role in being part of the elite group of female House DJs that are taking over the entertainment industry.
Born and bred in Pretoria, dubbed as the Capital City of House Music, Lamiez’ love and passion for good music influenced her career choice, which saw her become the official fulltime DJ for Sun City Resort (Sun International) Lamiez was the face of their summer campaign and the official Miss South Africa DJ for two years in a row.
Having grown up in an Indian community, Lamiez knows what it is like to be discriminated against and has always known that she is different. Her mother who is her manager,taught her from a very young age that her power lays in being different. This is why she is as confident as she is and strives to empower young girls from all walks of life to be confident and to accept themselves for who and what they are. Lamiez has become a natural hair fanatic and an advocate for body positivity inspiring everyone to embrace who they areflaws and all.
